Since 1981, Marie Sharp’s Fine Foods of Belize has been crafting world-renowned pepper sauces straight from the fertile grounds of Melinda Estates in the lush Stann Creek Valley, Belize, Central America.
From the beginning, farm-to-bottle freshness and bold, authentic flavor have been the hallmarks of Marie Sharp’s products — now enjoyed by fans all over the world.
How It All Began
In 1980, Marie Sharp began experimenting with recipes using fresh habanero peppers, vegetables, and fruits grown right on her farm. She developed sauces, jams, and jellies that quickly earned rave reviews from friends and neighbors. Their enthusiasm gave her the confidence to turn her passion into a family-run business.
Starting in a small kitchen with help from relatives and a single employee, Marie launched what would soon become a globally recognized brand. Today, the company employs over 70 staff members and operates a full-scale production facility in Stann Creek, manufacturing goods for both local and international markets.
Where Is Belize?
Belize is a beautiful country in Central America, nestled on the Caribbean coast. It’s bordered by Mexico to the north, Guatemala to the south and west, and the Caribbean Sea to the east.

Marie Sharp’s remains a family-owned and operated business that takes immense pride in everything it produces. The company stands firmly behind its motto:

Their Belize facility meets HACCP food safety standards, ensuring world-class quality at every step of the process. The team is also deeply committed to gender equality, and a portion of proceeds from the Pineapple Habanero Sauce helps support efforts to end gender-based violence in Belize.
Locally Grown Goodness
About 95% of all ingredients are grown directly on the Marie Sharp’s estate — including habanero peppers, carrots, garlic, onions, limes, and even nopal cactus. The rest is sourced from nearby Belizean farmers, supporting additional local jobs.

We offer a full range of products, from mild to blazing hot sauces, along with sweet tropical jams, fruity spreads, and smoky habanero blends — all natural, gluten-free, non-GMO, and free of artificial colors or flavors. Our products are made especially for us, shipped direct from Belize to Canada by ship, never touches USA soil.

April 2025 – VOLUNTARY PRODUCT RECALL NOTICE
We’re committed to the highest quality standards at Marie Sharp’s Canada, and in line with that commitment, we’ve issued a small voluntary recall of one product, sold exclusively through a single vendor. This recall affects only the following: Garlic Habanero hot sauce 5 oz – lot M940 BB: 11-Dec-2027
There have been no reported health issues. This is a precautionary measure taken out of an abundance of care. If you purchased this product through the Loblaws chain in Ontario or eastward, please return it to them for a refund or replacement. We appreciate your understanding and continued trust. Please note, ALL bottles concerned have been removed from circulation.
